Layer Styles give structure, but real liquid has surface tension and sometimes air bubbles.
: Adds depth and highlights, making elements look 3D or "pressed" into the surface.
Here are some best practices to keep in mind when working with layer styles:
Linear Burn | Color: Muted Grey-Beige ( #A69B8F ) | Opacity: 20% to 35% 3. Inner Shadow (Adding Thickness and Depth)
With the Layer Style dialog box still open, click the button on the right-hand side. Name your style (e.g., "Glossy Liquid Style" ).
: 25 px (Adjust this depending on your text size to ensure a smooth, rounded curve) Soften : 2 px Angle : Use 90° with an Altitude of 30°
: Styles are "live" effects. You can toggle them on or off, change their settings, or delete them at any time without losing your original pixel data.
For ultra-realistic results, duplicate your styled text layer. On the top layer, clear all styles except for Bevel & Emboss , change the blend mode to Screen , and decrease the size while making the contour sharper. This creates a secondary "specular highlight" layer that makes the liquid look intensely wet.
15px to 25px (Adjust until the bevel almost meets in the middle of the letters, creating a rounded look)
Go back to the Drop Shadow. Add a 1px Gaussian Blur to the original shape layer (Rasterize the shape, then Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur). Soft edges mimic surface tension spreading.
